Welcome to the web site of...
Friends of Middleton Park
Middleton Park is situated 4 miles from the City Centre in urban South Leeds. Of its 630 acres, 200 are ancient woodland, there are also grasslands, children's play area and other recreational areas. There is a Visitor Centre with a cafe - for opening times see below.
The Park does not have an official postcode, but directions to the main entrance on Town Street can be found by using the postcode LS10 3SH. Also see our How to Find Middleton Park web page.
The Friends of Middleton Park (FoMP) were formed in 2003 to promote local interest and involvement in the park and its woodland As well as its rich natural history, Middleton also has a fascinating local history including: the remains of a 1204 boundary ditch between Beeston and Middleton, evidence of early coal mining and the Famous Middleton Railway. Two areas of the park have been designated a Scheduled Ancient Monument due to the presence of historic coal mining remains, and a community archaeology project recorded the mining archaeology of the area in 2006 - 2008. Between 2013 to 2019, a 1760's Ice House that served Middleton Lodge has been rediscovered and revealed.
This site contains information about all aspects of Middleton Park including its history and location, some suggested walks and notes, coming events, a park map and much more.
